Latex vs. Oil Based Paints
Monday, March 5, 2007
Q. What is the difference between Latex and Oil based paints?
A. Latex paints are water based and allow for ease of clean up and care. Latex paints of today are much better quality and are more durable than those of the past and in many cases will out perform many oil based paints. Oil based paints are a solvent based paint that emits harmful fumes into the air when being used. You must use in a well ventilated space and a mask is suggested for safety. Many states no longer allow the use of Oil based paints. There are many alternatives on the market such as Furniture, Cabinet and Trim paint by Canvas Corp.
