How to Paint Light Switches and Outlet to Match or Blend?

Friday, March 9, 2007

Q. I would like to paint my walls a dark neutral color, but I am afraid that the white light switches and outlet covers will stick out like a sore thumb! I have tried painting them in the past but the paint chips off and then they look worse - is there a way to paint them to match or blend?

A. Start with one of the Canvas Home Basics neutral Pre-Mixed Wall Colors and the matching Furniture, Cabinet and Trim paint, this allows you to paint your walls and then any details in the room the same color. The Diamondhard Technology creates a tough durable acrylic finish and dries leaving a smooth gloss finish. No priming is needed and the paint comes in a variety of neutral colors. Each surface is a bit different, so you may want to try a few different painting techniques to get the best results. For smooth surfaces try a roller and for small metal surfaces a small brush with a dabbing technique works the best.
